On Terra Firma in Terra Australis

In the past 30 hours I’ve experienced the full range of watery states from snow and ice in Manchester, pea soup fog in London, the steamy humidity of Bangkok, fluffy clouds and blue skies in Sydney, ending with summer storm clouds in my home town of Orange. It’s good to be on terra firma again, but I enjoyed taking in the various landscapes from the air – especially the short, familiar hop from Sydney over the Blue Mountains to Orange. With so much rain recently the country is as green and beautiful as I’ve ever seen it. I’m no doubt gazing through the nostalgic lens of one returning home after a long absence, but I’m filled with the urge to photograph and capture everything while I’m home. For the moment though, nothing beats the sound of rain on a tin roof to help a weary traveller off to sleep.
